Mamadou Diop nominated for Heroes of Humanity Award |

SALEM RESIDENT and local musician, Mamadou Diop, president of the nonprofit organization A3D, Inc. (African Development through Drum and Dance) was nominated for the Humanitarian of the year award from the Art of Living Foundation - Heroes of Humanity which will be held in Boston on 3/7/07- UPDATE - Mamadou Diop was selected to receive the "Humanitarian of the Year" honorable award from the Boston Chapter of the International Art of Living Foundation! In his ten years in the USA, Mamadou has taught himself English, formed an award winning music band, produced several albums, performed at many festivals, and acquired a record contract.
As an ethnomusicologist, he has introduced African drumming, culture, stories, and dance to thousands of children and adults throughout New England. He has donated his time and musical talent to raise funds for several NPOs, such as for HAWC and Katrina victims. As the president of A3D, Inc., he is dedicated to helping Africa and African immigrants in the Greater Boston area.
Mamadou Diop has a vision of opening a Multicultural Center in Salem, MA where all can find a common connection through art and culture.
This humble man continues to inspire through his creativity, wisdom, and insight, lightened by his delightful sense of humor while remaining selfless, bringing his services to humanity, and always offering a sincere hand and friendship to all. |

July 19, 2008 - Charlestown, RI The band MAMADOU, along with many other notable performing artists including Yellowman, shared the stage at the Ocean State Reggae Festival held in coastal Charlestown, Rhode Island. It was a day of great music, lots of sunshine, and a flavor in the air that reminded all that this was a real Reggae festival. |
